If you like tender juicy steak; you will love ostrich
The ostrich steak was fantastic, smoked for 20 minutes with woodfire for taste, then grilled for just a few minutes on each side. Equally as good as a great beef steak. Our order made it in on the day requested with no issues.
The single best meal I’ve ever had in my life (I’m 69) was ostrich which I dined on while in Africa on my 50th birthday. I waited years to find some to try and thanks to Fossil Farms, I was able to enjoy it again and it was every bit as wonderful as I remembered it.
Super tender, super yummy. I love quail, but it is such a pain to work with all those tiny bones.....well ostrich tastes very similar to quail, but these steaks have no bones. So, if you like game birds like quail, you are sure to like ostrich. We cooked it in a pan with white wine, olive oil, butter, garlic, and black pepper. It should be cooked rare to medium rare (middle should be dark pink) so do not overcook. Also, it is a very lean meat which is why we used some fat in the cooking. We let it rest, then sliced thin across the grain to serve. My only regret is that I only ordered two. Will definitely include in my next order.
Flavor close to cow meat, but no fat
