Our Story
Humble Beginnings
In 1995, brothers Lance and Todd Appelbaum experienced game meat for the first time. Impressed by the taste of these healthy and sustainable meats, they returned home with a vision to raise Ostrich and Bison on the East Coast.
Lance recalls, “Growing up, my brother [Todd] always wanted to be a farmer, and I always knew I wanted to run my own business. Right then and there, we realized, this is what we gotta do.” Just two years later, Fossil Farms was founded.

Wrong item

The meat I received was delicious, but I didn’t realize I had actually received the Alpha Gal bundle instead of the duck, duck, emu, ostrich. I had ordered several bundles at once and didn’t notice the problem until I went for the duck sausage and realized I hadn’t gotten any. I have no complaints whatsoever about the quality and taste of the meat though and I’ve already placed another order for some burgers!
